My name is Lisa Lewis, but my students know me as SuperFantastic Lewis. I have observed and learned so much in my 10 years in education, including the impact food insecurity has on students throughout our communities every day.
Students are suffering and lack necessary nutrition at home. This makes it difficult for them to function and thrive well in class. Unfortunately, students are unable to focus on completing daily assignments when they are hungry. Caring teachers like myself make sacrifices to keep items in our classrooms such as, snacks, school supplies, and hygiene products to help support and encourage successful learning days.
