Food from the Bar is a month-long competition among Houston’s legal community where participants earn points by donating food, fund and volunteer time to benefit the Houston Food Bank.
How It Works
Legal organizations will be awarded points as follows:
- 1 lb. of food = 1 point
- $1 = 3 points
- 1 volunteer = 50 points
Firm/Organization Bonus Points:
- 100 bonus points for every volunteer attending Volunteer Bonus Days

Awards
All organizations that make a significant contribution to the campaign will receive Achievement Awards.
Bronze Partners – 5,000 points
Silver Partners – 10,000 points
Gold Partners – 15,000 points
Platinum Partners – 20,000 points
Special Awards
Overall Award – Highest overall combined totals
Creativity Award – as determined by the Houston Food Bank, the most innovative or unusual means of supporting Food from the Bar campaign
Spirit Award – The most volunteer hours at Houston Food Bank
Foodraiser Award – Awarded to the legal organization who collects the most food
Evolution Award –Awarded to the team with the largest growth in points from the previous year
Best Law School Award – Best achievement by a law school

2025 Food from the Bar Results
Thank you to the legal community for helping the Houston Food Bank achieve a successful 10th Annual Food from the Bar campaign. The 20 participating legal organizations raised $225,828 and generated 677,485 meals for our community—the highest totals in Food from the Bar history! Congratulations to all our partners and special award winners.
