While the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo has packed up and the last of the animals, cowboys and cowgirls, and carnival rides and vendors have gone, the impact of the event is still being felt. RCS Carnival Midway, who operates the food concessions in the popular carnival area, helped coordinate donations from his company and other vendors to fill a Houston Food Bank truck with 7,118 lbs. of food, items such as fresh bread, dairy, meat and produce. This donation is the equivalent of 5,913 meals for those served by Houston Food Bank.
“RCS Carnival Midway is thrilled to be able to continue to give back to the Houston community through donations that we know will provide immediate help,” says RCS Owner Dominic Palmieri.
“Each year for the last several years, RCS Carnival Midway has made a generous donation to Houston Food Bank at the end of that year’s rodeo season, giving remaining fresh food products and unopened non-perishables to us to help feed others rather than filling dumpsters,” says Brian Greene, president/CEO of the nation’s largest Feeding America food bank in terms of distribution. “Thank you, RCS Carnival Midway, for helping us provide food for better lives in Greater Houston and throughout our 18-county coverage area of southeast Texas. We cant wait to see you next Rodeo season!”
