Rosie
Rosie has a hard time talking about her family’s struggles.
“I don’t want to talk too much about it because I will cry,” she says. “Many of us are going through very difficult times.”
For Rosie, caring for three generations means making sure her family — herself, her daughter and son-in-law, and two young grandchildren — has what they need each day. Though her daughter is unable to work due to health reasons and her son-in-law’s income only goes so far, Rosie remains optimistic. She asks if there are any volunteer opportunities at Bethel’s Heavenly Hands, one of Houston Food Bank’s dedicated community partners.
“I really want to be able to give back. To say thank you for what you all have done for me,” Rosie said enthusiastically.
She’s so grateful and adds that, “It’s a lot of help, because it feels like the cost of food keeps going up. The food from [Heavenly Hands] helps us save a lot, because now we don’t have to use our funds to purchase the food we’re getting here.”
“God is great,” she continues, “because the food we get here makes such a difference. I’m so grateful!”
Thanks to the generosity of our community, families like Rosie’s can enjoy nourishing food and focus on brighter days ahead.
