Applications are now open for the District H Horizons Internship Program, a paid, 6-month opportunity to gain real, hands-on experience in Houston’s local government. Horizons interns work alongside City Councilmember Mario Castillo’s team on community engagement, communications, and constituent services (20 hours a week), all while learning how city leadership operates behind the scenes.

If you’re over 18 and you live, work, or study in District H, this is your chance to step into public service and build skills that matter.

Prep for a Safe Hurricane Season!

Hurricane Season Resources

Take time to review, update, and print out your family’s Disaster Plan ahead of hurricane season. It starts June 1st and continues through November 30th, 2026!

Prepare for hurricane season by completing a Disaster Preparedness Plan with your loved ones. The Office of Emergency Management has created a guide to make the process simple! After finalizing your plan, be sure to print it out and keep it accessible in a waterproof location in the event of power outages or flooding during a storm.

Consider writing out essential phone numbers and printing out recent photos of your loved ones and pets in the case of evacuation. Remember to update all members of your household about your plan to stay safe this hurricane season!
