Houston Food Bank is facing an $11 million cut in federal funding, which equates to about 500 fewer truckloads of nutritious food like produce, dairy, and protein for our neighbors facing food insecurity.
As mentioned on Houston Public Media, ABC 13, Hoodline, and KHOU 11, these cuts will significantly impact our services.
Despite having to pivot to accommodate for the budget shortfall, Houston Food Bank’s mission remains steadfast: to ensure that children, seniors, and families have access to the nourishment they need. Our network of 1,600 partners depends on us to supply food that is distributed across Southeast Texas, and we’re committed to maintaining this critical flow of resources. With strategic adjustments and operational efficiency, we’ll continue to support our community with more than just food – through nutrition education, SNAP enrollment support, and programs that promote long-term stability.
However, we cannot do this alone. Donor support and advocacy are more critical than ever. Learn more about how you can help here, or make a donation today.
