Houston Food Bank is happy to announce that Hearts and Hands of Baytown has finished their renovation and equipment upgrades. This update, made possible through ARPA funds and the support of the Moody Foundation, the Kiwanis Club, Dale and Terry Vanderpol, and Mel Stone, as well as HUB grants, not only encompasses the many improvements to the facility, but also two dedicated Navigation Specialists who will work directly with neighbors to connect them with vital social service programs like SNAP, TANF, CHIP, and Medicaid.
“We’ve reimagined our space to match the depth of our mission. From expanded refrigeration to redesigned client markets, private navigation offices, and welcoming community areas—every corner now reflects compassion in action.” said Ismael Martinez Jr, board president. “I see incredible hearts that have poured precious dollars, resources, competency building, and belief into Hearts and Hands. Thank you for all you have done to impact our organization and those we serve. This place has always been about more than food. It’s about neighbors helping neighbors, volunteers serving with love, and partners believing in a future where no one faces hunger alone.”
With improved infrastructure, streamlined operations, increased efficiency, and expanded services to meet the diverse needs of the community, Hearts and Hands of Baytown is stronger than ever. Together with Houston Food Bank, they are working to eradicate hunger and address its underlying causes, creating hope and opportunity for those who need it most and ensuring Food for Better Lives.
