Celebrating Impact: The Inaugural Houston Food Bank Volunteer Service Awards

At Houston Food Bank, our mission to provide food for better lives is driven by the hands and hearts of our community. While every hour contributed makes a difference, some individuals and groups have shown an extraordinary level of commitment. To honor this dedication, we recently hosted our first-ever Houston Food Bank Volunteer Service Awards.

These awards recognize the volunteers who serve as the backbone of our operations, helping us reach more than one million neighbors across our 18-county service area.

National Recognition for Local Service

The inaugural ceremonies, held at our Portwall facility, highlighted the deep connection between Houston’s spirit of service and a broader national legacy. Each award recipient received a custom lapel pin, a Certificate of Excellence, and a letter of acknowledgement from Neil Bush, Chair of the Board of Points of Light.

This connection to the organization founded by President George H.W. Bush underscores the vital importance of the work being done right here in southeast Texas.

Award Tiers and Achievements

Awards were presented based on service hours performed during the 2025 calendar year. We are proud to recognize the following tiers of excellence:

Gold Tier: 300+ hours (Students) | 500+ hours (Adults/Corporate)
Silver Tier: 200–299 hours (Students) | 250–499 hours (Adults/Corporate)
Bronze Tier: 100–199 hours (Students) | 100–249 hours (Adults/Corporate)

The Road to 100,000 Strong

These awards come at a pivotal time for our organization. As we celebrate these high-impact milestones, we are also looking toward our ambitious goal of reaching 100,000 unique volunteers.

Whether you are a student, a corporate team, or an individual neighbor, every new face in our warehouse brings us closer to this milestone.
