Houston Restaurant Weeks

From August 1st through Labor Day, participating restaurants specially priced, multi-course prix fixe menus for brunch ($25), lunch ($25), or dinner ($39 or $55), with fixed proceeds from each meal sold benefitting Houston-area food banks. Houston Restaurant Weeks is the largest annual fundraiser for Houston Food Bank!

Hunger Action Month

Hunger Action Month is a nationwide movement in September to highlight actions you can take towards ending hunger. We’re shining a light on factors that affect food insecurity. This year, our focus is on affordable housing. Rising housing costs strain families’ budgets limiting the ability to afford enough nutritious foods or food insecurity.

Backpack Blast

Backpack Blast is Houston Food Bank’s annual clay shooting tournament with a powerful purpose. This isn’t just a day of friendly competition, it’s a vital effort to support children who face hunger when school meals aren’t available.

Harvest Marathon Relay

The Harvest Marathon Relay is a timed relay on an Olympic sized track for a total distance of 26.2 miles. Join a competitive or non-competitive team and come out for a fun day of running and community spirit. Food, water, and music are available for all participants, as well as a commemorative t-shirt for participants who register before the deadline. 100% of the proceeds from the Marathon are donated to Houston Food Bank Run for Food team.

Share Your Holidays

ABC13’s Share Your Holidays Food Drive is an annual event benefiting the Houston Food Bank. The Houston community shows their holiday spirit by donating food. During the week, those who are experiencing food insecurity can call our Phone Bank to reserve a special holiday food box.

Run for a Reason

Run for a Reason gives runners the opportunity to reach the finish line while supporting local non-profits. Participants can choose to take part in the Chevron Houston Marathon, Aramco Houston Half Marathon, and Houston 5k. As part of their run, runners, teams, and corporations taking part can fundraise with donations going to Houston Food Bank.

Food from the Bar

Food from the Bar is a month-long competition among Houston’s legal community where participants earn points by donating food, fund and volunteer time to benefit the Houston Food Bank.

Eat Drink HTX

Eat Drink HTX is a two-week-long charity dining event developed for casual and fast casual restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops & food trucks! $15 and $25 price points for brunch, lunch, and dinner menus gives more eateries the opportunity to participate while allowing diners to Dine Out & Do Good in February!

Volunteer Service Awards

In April Houston Food Bank honors its most outstanding corporate volunteers with Volunteer Service Awards. The awards are presented over 3 days, with Gold, Silver, and Bronze level awards issued to organizations based on their level of support and hours of service donated.

Empty Bowls

One of Houston’s best-loved grassroots fundraising events, Empty Bowls Houston allows attendees enjoy perusing the 1,500-plus one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted bowls made and donated by Houston area ceramists and craft artists, which are available for a donation to the Houston Food Bank. Empty Bowls is an international effort to fight hunger, implemented in Houston to benefit the Houston Food Bank. The unique lunch fundraiser is a collaboration between Houston area ceramists, woodturners and artists working in all media.
