Food from the Bar

Food from the Bar is an annual competition throughout April among Houston’s legal community where participants volunteer, donate funds and food to earn points becoming the best legal team of the year.

How It Works

Legal organizations will be awarded points as follows:

1 pound of food = 1 point
$1 donated = 3 points
1 volunteer = 50 points

Firm/Organization Bonus Points:

100 bonus points for every volunteer attending Volunteer Bonus Days

Awards and Special Awards

Bronze Partners – 5,000 points
Silver Partners – 10,000 points
Gold Partners – 15,000 points
Platinum Partners – 20,000 points

Special Awards

Overall Award – Highest overall combined totals
Creativity Award – Determined by Houston Food Bank, the most innovative or unusual means of supporting the Food from the Bar campaign
Spirit Award – The most volunteer hours at Houston Food Bank
Foodraiser Award – Awarded to the legal organization who collects the most food
Evolution Award – Awarded to the team with the largest growth in points from the previous year
Best Law School Award – Best achievement by a law school
