
The Houston Food Bank and the Kinder Institute for Urban Research convened leaders across healthcare, policy, academia, and community organizations for the 2026 Community Health Summit on March 24, an event focused on advancing health equity through food access.
Held in recognition of National Nutrition Month, the Summit highlighted innovative partnerships and emerging research addressing food insecurity and related health outcomes across Greater Houston. Speakers emphasized the importance of collective, cross-sector strategies that integrate nutrition into healthcare and social service systems while centering community voice.
The Summit concluded with a call to sustained collaboration and upcoming research briefs aimed at informing future action and policy.
