RAC Grant recipient Bible Way Food Pantry received a new forklift.

Through the Walmart Retail Agency Capacity Grant, awarded by Walmart and Feeding America, Houston Food Bank is helping agency partners strengthen their food rescue and distribution efforts. For Bible Way Food Pantry, this investment provided equipment and resources that increased operational capacity, supported additional retail pickups, and helped deliver more nutritious food to the community.

Bible Way Food Pantry shares how the Retail Agency Capacity Grant helped strengthen its food rescue operations and increase its impact:

Bible Way Food Pantry is a community-based food pantry that partners with the Houston Food Bank to provide nutritious food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. As a Retail Partner Agency, Bible Way participates in weekly retail food pickups and has expanded its participation in the H-E-B Food to Share program by taking on additional H-E-B pickups. These additional pickups have helped increase the amount and variety of food available to the neighbors they serve.

Partner Testimonial – Provided by Bible Way Food Pantry

“Over the past year, the partnership between Bible Way Food Pantry, the Houston Food Bank, and the Retail team has significantly strengthened our ability to serve our neighbors. The equipment we received through the Retail Agency Capacity (RAC) Grant has increased our operational capacity, improved safety, and allowed us to handle and distribute more food to our community.

Through the RAC grant we received a forklift. The forklift has been a true blessing to our organization. It has transformed our daily operations by allowing us to safely load trailers and trucks for our Spoke partners, unload retail donations, and move heavy pallets throughout our warehouse and walk-in cooler. Having this equipment has reduced the physical strain on our staff and volunteers and has made it possible for us to handle larger volumes of food more safely and efficiently.

The other equipment and resources we received through the RAC Grant, including material-handling equipment, storage and refrigeration equipment, and food safety resources, have also made a significant difference in our operations. Together, these investments have helped us improve the way we sort, store, transport, and distribute food while reducing waste and protecting the quality of the food we provide.

These resources have been especially important as we have taken on additional retail pickups. They have given us the capacity to rescue more food and provide our neighbors with greater variety and consistency in the food we distribute.

As a result of these investments, we have increased our capacity to serve our neighbors by approximately 20%. The RAC Grant has strengthened our ability to participate in retail food rescue, handle larger volumes of donations, and ultimately provide more nutritious food to the families and individuals we serve.”
