Hurricane Laura Disaster Relief

The Houston Food Bank has a history of providing disaster relief.

Each hurricane season, the Houston Food Bank accumulates more than 40 tractor trailer loads of disaster product to be prepared to immediately respond to the needs of the community. In addition, the Food Bank works alongside community partners to continuously assess the needs of those in affected areas.

If You Need Help

If you need food assistance, we are here to help:

If You Want To Help

Make A Donation
If you are able to make a donation to support those impacted, your gift will fill boxes with food for our neighbors across our 18-county service area. Because of our partnerships with manufacturers and distributors, we can turn one dollar in to providing someone with access to three meals.

Volunteer
Volunteers are essential after any disaster in helping us respond quickly to our neighbors in need.  After the storm, Houston Food Bank will assess road conditions and water levels around the Food Bank. The plan is to open as soon as possible so that we can welcome volunteers and get supplies out to our community.

If you’re interested in being notified by text message once the Food Bank is open and accepting volunteers, you can text DisasterVol to 51555.

Safety Measures For Our Volunteers:

The health and safety of partners, staff and the community is Houston Food Bank’s number-one priority. We are following CDC recommended sterilization procedures and have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting, especially around high-traffic areas (volunteer areas, elevators, meeting rooms, bathrooms, food areas).

    • We are practicing social distancing.
    • Volunteers are required to wash hands before their shift starts, during breaks, when they switch projects, and after their shift. Gloves are also available for wear for warehouse projects.
    • Requirement of masks or face coverings.

Donate Food

  • Host a Virtual Food Drive Fundraiser – Set yours up today!
    • For a greater impact, Houston Food Bank is encouraging alternative methods for donating food and supplies to help our neighbors. Instead of a traditional food drive or donating items that you purchase, please consider hosting a virtual food drive fundraiser. This also helps us promote the health and safety of our donors, volunteers and staff members during these uncertain times.
