Stories of Hunger

Manuel
“I’m very grateful for the people who support the Houston Food Bank,” says Manuel. “I want to thank them for everything they do for those of us who need help.”
Manuel is not alone in his gratitude. We hear similar sentiments every day from people across southeast Texas who are facing hunger. And they’re so thankful for the food and hope friends like you make possible — especially now, when so many are struggling to keep their cupboards stocked.
“The Food Bank is important because they’re helping everybody they can,” Manuel says. “I’m on a fixed income and it’s hard to get by. So, this helps out a lot.”
It’s not just the quantity of food that Manuel appreciates, but also the quality. Because without the Food Bank, eating healthy would simply be out of reach. “Everything they’re giving us, it’s all nutritious,” he says.
