Stories of Hunger

Helping Houston seniors

Kenneth

Even older Americans can find themselves in a bind, not being able to afford their medicine or their housing on top of other expenses. After finding himself suddenly in need of income, Kenneth, who had previously studied air conditioning repair, was unable to find work in that industry because of his age. Since he also had previous experience with machinery, he has enrolled himself in classes to become certified in using computers which help operate machines. In the meantime, he is very grateful for the services he receives at the pantry, saying: “It is the one thing I can count on. This has made a difference, to be able to get real, good food. I feel like I’m blessed. I appreciate whatever I get.”
