The Houston Food Bank’s Hunger Game is a two-week competition in which groups of all sizes compete against each other to fight hunger in our community. Groups compete to raise the most meals by donating time, food, and funds. The Hunger Game competition will be from July 22, 2016 to August 6, 2016. There will be two awards. The Overall Award will recognize the group who generates the most meals. The Per Capita Award will recognize the group who generates the most meals per group member.
Who can participate?
We welcome groups of all sizes. Participating groups may include churches, school groups, families, corporate groups, community groups, sports teams, fraternities/sororities and more! Each team must choose a captain who will be responsible for registering the group and for serving as the contact person.
How does it work?
Participants will be awarded points (meals) for financial and food contributions and volunteering their time at the Houston Food Bank as follows:
$1 = 3 meals
Pounds of food/1.2 = meals
1 volunteer minute = 1 meal (Portwall Warehouse)
1 volunteer minute = 2 meals (Keegan Kitchen)
Teams Bonus Opportunities:
- 250 bonus meals for Early Registration by July 15, 2016
- Double bonus meals for every volunteer attending the Hunger Game Kickoff on Friday, July 22, 2016
What can your group win?
The two winning groups will receive a plaque, social media recognition, and photo wall recognition. Winners will also be featured in the Houston Food Bank e-Newsletter highlighting their cause and reason for choosing to help the Houston Food Bank.
