Director of Information Technology

This position is responsible for development of IT strategies and policies to address complex business issues. Provides leadership to cross-functional teams. Supports and guides the development process, collaborating effectively across multiple cross-functional teams to skillfully execute on milestones and deliverable in a timely manner. Acts as primary liaison between IT and the organization. Establishes and maintains strong relationships with management, ensuring regular communication of delivery progress are maintained.   Maintains professional business relations with clients and outside contacts.  Keeps management well informed of area activities. Creates and maintains IT department budget. Supervises Network Administrator and Systems Analyst.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related fields (or equivalent work experience). Business analysis or development and project management experience, prior management and/or supervisory experience.

Skills/Abilities

ERP (Preferably Microsoft Business Solutions – Navision). Relational databases (SQL). Project Management skills. Overview of SQL reporting structure. Ability to directly assist functional IT staff in Network Administration and Reporting Development. 


 

Systems Analyst

The Systems Analyst will design and develop many components of the Houston Food Bank’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform, based on Microsoft’s Dynamics NAV. This position is also responsible for curating internal and external relationships for the successful development of Warehouse, Financial, Inventory, and Operations management software functionalities. Additional responsibilities include supporting, monitoring, and effectively testing mission critical applications. The successful Systems Analyst will be proactive in recommending application updates and implementing upgrades without significant impact to HFB operations.

Education / Experience
Bachelors’ degree from an accredited program in computer science, IT systems, programming or a similar discipline – equivalent work experience can be substituted for education. Certifications in Microsoft Dynamics NAV or a related EPR systems are a plus!

  • At least 1 year software development
  • At least 1 year experience creating SQL objects and queries.

Experience supporting and implementing applications for warehouse, supply chain, or finance is a must. The highly qualified applicant will also have experience working with SharePoint 2010 and providing tier three support to customers.

Skills / Abilities
A highly competitive applicant will possess a Dynamic skill set in C/SIDE programming languages, planning and strategy skills from previous experiences with ERP implementations, and knowledge of warehouse and manufacturing verticals.


SSOP Specialist-Bilingual
Want to help end hunger in Houston? The Houston Food Bank Social Service Outreach Program (SSOP) assists clients with applying for state public benefit programs such as SNAP-food stamps, Medicaid, CHIP, TANF and others. The Social Services Specialist will provide outreach, education, application assistance and interview clients for state public benefit programs. This position requires travel to various locations as needed throughout the Houston region as far north as Trinity County and as far south as Galveston. Outreach could include home visits to clients unable to travel. Interested candidates must have reliable transportation and have a working knowledge of resources and agencies. Must be willing to travel. Work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and will require some Saturdays for events. This position is full time and offers full benefits, including medical and dental, paid holidays, plus mileage reimbursement (according to federal reimbursement guidelines).

Education/Experience
Must have excellent computer skills with the ability to fully use the following devices in a mobile outreach setting: Portable Laptop, Portable Scanner, and Blackberry. Social Services Call Center Team Lead
The Houston Food Bank Social Service Outreach Program (SSOP) assists clients with applying for state public benefit programs such as SNAP-food stamps, Medicaid, CHIP, TANF and others.   Field workers travel to social service agencies in 12 counties and provide outreach, education, application assistance and interview clients for state public benefit programs. 

The Social Services Call Center Team Lead provides mentoring and coaching to Call Center Receptionist, Operators and Call Center Volunteers. The Social Services Call Center Team Lead will help SSOP manage the call center expansion with the use of volunteers to help the Houston Food Bank increase capacity in order to help more hungry people.  Call Center Team Lead will also ensure client flow at Portwall with regard to the reception desk is monitored and that the reception and waiting room area resources for clients are properly maintained. SSOP Call Center Team Lead may be asked to provide presentations in the community about the HFB Call Center to help market the hotline and services. Team Lead will oversee the SNAP Box Program as it is related to the State Application mail-ins that the call center processes. The Social Services Team Lead will also assist the team with providing application assistance and interviewing clients for state benefit programs should team members require help.  Additionally, the team lead will monitor inbound and outbound calls in the call center for quality assurance and customer service.  The team lead will also manage hourly schedules to ensure adequate coverage in the call center six days a week. 

Experience
A minimum of one – two  (1-2) years of social service/non-profit experience.  One – five (1-5)  years of call center experience preferred One – five (1-5)  years experience providing case work or case management services to clients in the Houston Area also preferred.  Experience with / knowledge of application assistance for city, county, or state benefits programs preferred.  Knowledge of HIPAA laws and compliance. Proficiency using Microsoft Office Programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook a must.  Ability to understand and follow directions and complete complex state benefits applications.  Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions such as add and multiply.  Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and customer service skills.  Must be technologically proficient in using a computer, laptop, scanner and telephone system.
Bi-lingual English/Spanish Preferred.   

Education
Bachelors of Arts  in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, Anthropology, Business, Marketing, Communications or closely related degree or 60+ college hours in a related field plus two  years of related work experience. 


Warehouse Associate
Position is responsible for maintaining smooth operations of all day-to-day receiving functions as they relate to Donation, Order selectors, administration, personnel, RODS accuracy Bin Slotting and FIFO processes.  Provides exceptional customer service and support first shift receiving and Operations programs as needed.  Maintain professional business relations with staff and outside contacts.  Keep Warehouse Manager well informed of all area activities.

Education / Experience
High School Diploma, GED, or commensurate industry experience, previous experience in food Warehousing and/or like business. Experience in food warehousing or inventory management. At least two years of Food Grade Warehouse experience.

Strong customer service skills and willingness to assist others. Able to communicate complex information clearly. Attentive to detail. Strong problem-solving abilities. Able to coordinate well with other departments and personnel. Ability to operate all types of warehouse machinery, stand-up & sit down forklift, long and short pallet jack, manual jack, computer, copier and other business equipment.


Backpack Buddy Club Coordinator
Position is responsible for coordinating the Backpack Buddy Club (BBC) program, a weekly program that provides non-perishable, nutritious and child-friendly food to children in the program. Recruits eligible elementary, middle and high schools in the 14-county service area, coordinates program with eligible schools, training in schools on implementation of BBC, works closely with the Food Purchasing and Volunteer Engagement departments for the purchase of food and assembly of sacks respectively, maintains BBC database, tracks and reports monthly metrics and updates program as appropriate.

Education/Experience
BA or BS in Nutrition, health Education, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university. Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred.

Bilingual Contract Nutrition Educator
The nutrition educator teaches classes throughout the greater Houston area at community centers, after school programs, senior centers, shelters, transitional living homes, churches and other locations to a diverse group of low income families and individuals.  Class topics emphasize basic nutrition, shopping and eating on a budget, healthy choices for all ages, and easy to prepare meals using foods commonly available through the Houston Food Bank’s partner agency pantries.  The educator should be at ease teaching nutrition concepts in Spanish and demonstrating preparing healthy recipes as part of all classes.  The educator will also participate in community health fairs and events.

Education
Bachelors degree in nutrition, health education, or other health-related field or current enrollment in an AND-approved Didactic Program in Dietetics.

Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in speaking and reading in Spanish.


Development Assistant
Position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Chief Development Officer and the Directors of Corporate/Foundation Giving, Individual Giving and Product Resources as needed. Duties include scheduling meetings, processing paperwork, typing minutes, preparing sponsorship and proposal packets and providing event/activity assistance as needed. Though administrative, interested candidates will have a desire to learn the basics of fundraising and must be willing to work some nights and weekends.

Education/Experience
Bachelors Degree in Business, Public Administration, Liberal Arts or related discipline. One to two years experience in a similar position with a desire to learn about fundraising form the ground up. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Skills/Abilities
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time. Strong customer services skills and willingness to assist others. Good written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail. Ability to problem solve. Able to coordinate well with other departments and personnel.


Special Events Coordinator
Position reports to the Special Events Manager and is responsible for assisting with the planning, implementation and execution of fundraising events associated with the individual giving program. The essential functions are:

  • Event set up, registration, onsite logistical support and clean up. 
  • Coordinate assigned cultivation and appreciation events. 
  • Primary contact for one to two (1-2) special events (Marathon and Empty Bowls)
  • Event and participant data entry and tracking. 
  • Event communications (phone calls to participants, web site information updates, mailings, e-blasts/e-newsletters, social media, etc.)
  • Assist with pledge invoicing. 
  • Maintain and update special events calendar.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience
Minimum of one year related work experience. Required proficiency in computing and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with Raiser’s Edge and Convio is preferred.

Education
Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration or related field.


Inventory Data Entry Clerk
Position is responsible for day-to-day data entry functions as they relate to processing Product Recovery re-classes and combinations, inventory transfers, donation orders and basic office administration. Provides exceptional customer service and supports Volunteer Production and Inventory, as well as other Operation programs as needed. Process and ship agency orders daily and in a timely fashion and communicate with PDOs weekly regarding their USDA allocation. Maintain professional business relations with staff and outside contacts.

Experience
One to two (1-2) years previous experience in office work and one to two (1-2) years experience with receiving or other inventory related work.

Education
High School Diploma, GED or commensurate industry experience, previous experience in a clerical position.


Quality Assurance Monitor
Position  is responsible for ensuring that Quality Control measures are in place and followed by HFB SSOP staff.  The Quality Assurance Monitor ensures that all HFB SSOP, TFBN and HHSC policies and procedures are followed.  The Quality Assurance Monitor reports QA issues to SSOP Management and TFBN/HHSC as needed.   The Quality Assurance Monitor reviews quality of documentation for staff that provide service to clients in the community.  The QA Monitor pulls client cases and documents QA deficiencies, monitors case submission errors to HSSC, monitors 1826 process and INQUIRY into the state SSP system, ensures client information is safeguarded and retained and destructed according to established HHSC policy, ensures EBT monitoring and reporting and quickly reports suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity uncovered by HFB to HFB, TFBN and HHSC timely. The Quality Assurance Monitor also ensures that client information at Portwall location or at outreaching community partner sites in the field is safeguarded to ensure HIPAA and Privacy Laws are met.  Please note this position is responsible for a very complex EBT Report to HHSC region #6 EBT Coordinator in Houston.  This position also has heavy communications on a daily basis with HHSC Region #8 CPU Unit in San Antonio and to Project Management in Austin.  The QA Monitor also is in charge of monitoring of the HFB Kiosk Project and assists with kiosk deployment across the region.

Education/Experience
BA in Business, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, Social Sciences or closely related field.

Skills/Abilities
A minimum of one to two (1-2) years of social service/non-profit experience.  One to two (1-2) years working with clients is preferred.   Quality assurance monitoring experience is preferred.  Must have excellent report generation skills and experience working with spreadsheets.  Must be extremely detail oriented and organized.  Must possess excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.   Must have experience presenting information to large groups in a clear, organized, professional and concise manner.  Must possess excellent computer proficiency skills with the ability to fully use the following devices in a mobile outreach setting: Portable Laptop, Portable Scanner, and Blackberry. Warehouse Operations Supervisor
Position is responsible for maintaining smooth operations of all day-to-day Distribution and Warehousing functions as they relate to Walk-in Shopping area, Frozen, Refrigerated, Dry Areas, Agency Orders, Order selectors, administration, personnel supervision, Order accuracy Bin Slotting, FIFO and recruitment processes. Provides exceptional customer service and support to Distribution Services and Operation's programs as needed.

Experience/Education
Associate’s degree or equivalent industry training and work experience, previous experience in food warehousing and/or like business.

Skills/Abilities
Three to five (3-5) years experience in data entry and Microsoft applications. As well as, food warehousing, transportation, delivery, scheduling, shipping and receiving.


SSOP Coordinator
The Houston Food Bank Social Service Outreach Program (SSOP) assists clients with applying for state public benefit programs such as SNAP-food stamps, Medicaid, CHIP, TANF and others.   Field workers travel to social service agencies in 12 counties and provide outreach, education, application assistance and interview clients for state public benefit programs and other social service needs.  The Social Services Outreach Coordinator will provide application assistance to clients for state public benefit programs either in the field or in the SSOP Office.

Experience

Social Services Receptionist/Operator
The Houston Food Bank Social Service Outreach Program (SSOP) assists clients with applying for  public benefit programs such as SNAP-food stamps, Medicaid, CHIP, TANF and other social services.   The Social Services Receptionist will provide call center support by answering and transferring phone calls.  This would include providing application assistance to clients via the call center, referring clients to other social service agencies, scheduling clients appointments for SSOP field workers at designated sites throughout the region,  taking messages for staff, assisting SSOP clients and guests that walk into the building to include volunteers and other general support duties. 

Experience
One to three (1-3) years of switch board or call center experience preferably in a social service setting.  Bi-lingual English/Spanish required.   Must be able to speak English and Spanish clearly and fluently.  Proficiency using Microsoft Office Programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook a must.  Ability to understand directions and complete complex state benefits applications.  Must possess excellent documentation skills.  Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions such as add and multiply.  Must possess excellent written, verbal communication and customer service skills and have the ability to multitask and prioritize.

Education
High School Diploma or GED required.  60 college hours or associates degree preferred. 


General Cook
To support the efforts of the Executive Chef  in preparing quality food items in a timely, consistent, and professional manner. Maintain a clean and well stocked food presentation area. Rotate and stock perishable inventory. Report to work for assigned shifts wearing uniform which complies with standards. Ensure that all shift duties are completed and additional time is used effectively. Assist with the maintenance checklist as specified by company policy. Continually clean and sanitize food preparation area, equipment, and storage areas. Cooks are also responsible for helping to maintain accurate food inventories and rotating stock items and for preparing and food.  

Education/Certification

Educational background normally attained through at high school diploma or a GED. Appropriate Food Handlers Permit. 



Skills/Abilities

At least six months of work experience in the food service industry with previous prep cook experience and previous experience with kitchen sanitation.
