Keegan Kitchen

Keegan Volunteers

The Keegan Kitchen prepares over 20,000 meals per month. Volunteers work alongside the chef and staff preparing and packaging foods for Meals on Wheels, Kids Cafe and US Vets in our community!

Must be over age 19 on weekdays.

Must be 14 yrs or older on weekends.

Senior Food Box Distribution

Senior Food Box Distribution

Senior Food Box Distribution is a project where volunteers go to local community centers and help feed over 7,800 older adults. Volunteers load the seniors’ food boxes into their car from the Houston Food Bank pick up site or assist with admin support/check in.

Must be 16 yrs or older

Carousel Project

Car

The Carousel Room project helps provide over 500,000 pounds of food to people in the community each month. Volunteers perform various tasks such as sorting, inspecting, cleaning and boxing donated items.

Must be 16 or older

Available volunteer dates: Monday through Saturday

Re-Pack 

Repack

The Repack project for our younger volunteers; particularly for families and groups with kids under the age of 16. Volunteers will assist in re-bagging items such as rice, beans, coffee or cereal into small 2lbs bags in a “kid-friendly” room.

Minimum age of 8 years

Available volunteer dates: Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Backpack Buddy Project

Each week, the Backpack Buddy Project helps feed hungry kids over the weekend. Volunteers will prepare sacks of nutritious food for the kids. Every month over 3,000 children are fed from this program.

Must be 16 or older

Available volunteer day/dates: Tuesdays

Family Food Box Project

The Family Food Box Project feeds over 3,000 hungry families in our community. Volunteers prepare 30 pound boxes that will feed a family of four for 3 days.

Must be 16 or older

Available volunteer days/dates: Thursdays

Senior Food Box Project

Senior Food Box Distribution

Senior Food Box Project is a project where volunteers help feed over 7,800 older adults. Volunteers assist in creating food boxes for our senior clients within this program.

Must be 16 or older

Available volunteer days/dates: Fridays and Saturdays

Produce Project

Produceproject

The Produce Project is where you can help prepare fresh/frozen fruits and vegetables for needy families. Volunteers will help in re-packaging fruits and vegetables into small 2 pounds bags.

Must be 16 or older

Disaster Relief Projects

Disaster Relief Projects are a seasonal project, only occurring when needed. Volunteers prepare food boxes that will be sent to people impacted by natural disasters.
