This Thanksgiving, thousands of people in southeast Texas will give thanks as they dine with family and friends. Among them will be families giving thanks for you and your support of the Houston Food Bank. Your gifts provide three meals for every dollar donated and ensure hungry Houstonians have enough to eat this Thanksgiving and throughout the holiday season.
As the holidays approach more families are turning to the Houston Food Bank to help make ends meet. We are actively seeking food donations for our Emergency Food Pantry -- peanut butter, rice and beans are in high demand. Please drop off these items on your next visit to the Houston Food Bank.
The items we most need this holiday season
Protein (canned chicken, canned tuna, peanut butter)
Mac & cheese
The 2009 Recovery Act’s temporary stimulus to SNAP benefits ended on November 1st. This change affected every family participating in SNAP. In the Houston Food Bank 18-county service area, the November 1st cut in SNAP reduced assistance by more than $23/month for the average participating family.
If you or someone you know needs food, please use the Agency Locator to find a pantry near you.
We are pleased to announce that the METRO 348 Food Bank Shuttle is now up and running. You can now take METRO to the Houston Food Bank. The 348 Food Bank Shuttle runs to three destinations: Fifth Ward/Denver Harbor Transit Center, Houston Food Bank and Houston Community College - Northeast Campus.
